The Adventure is Building

The Adventure is Building Artist: J. M. Dean
From 1 January 2005 to 29 August 2005
An experimental outdoor installation encapsulating the urban lifecycle, from the construction of a building to its eventual decline, razing
new possibilities for Greenfield opportunities. This installation demonstrates that people from all walks share common grounds.
Background: This 10' x 20' portable building was originally used as a drive through coffee stand in Illinois. It was purchased by the
Common Grounds coffee company for their site on Manchester Ave. The building found its way to Art2Part ® Gallery when Common
Grounds elected to construct a new building from scratch.
Building: An insulated, wood frame building measuring 10' x 20' and 9 1/2' tall outside, 8' tall inside. The building sports a bathroom,
stainless steel sinks, and two counters. It has air conditioning and fluorescent lights. The building sites on three 4" x 4" skids. A site
plan has been prepared for locating the building on 12 concrete blocks, 12" x 12" x 8", on a bed of gravel with sand over the gravel for
leveling. The concrete blocks, sand, and gravel are included with the building.
Location: 2035 Delmar Blvd., at the corner of 21st and Delmar. Due north of Union Station and due west of the Edward Jones Dome
in the City of Saint Louis.
